About Us

Welcome

Camara Zambia Volunteers 2011
Camara-Zambia was formally established in year 2009,with the establishment of the first open source digital hub in Zambia. Its main offices are in Kitwe, within the Kitwe College of Education premises.

Camara-Zambia was established with a vision to provide ICT Education even to schools that cannot afford to acquire modern ICT tools.Camara-Zambia operates under its mother hub (Dublin Hub) to provide ICT training and Computer Reuse to learning Institutions.

We receive used computers from Ireland, wipe their hard drives of data (in line with US Department of Defense standards), refurbish and load them with educational software before sending them to schools.

We train teachers to use these computers as tools to improve the delivery of education to their students. We produce computer training and educational multimedia materials for use by teachers and children.

We have also embraced the two beliefs that Camara was built on in 2005, that:

  1. Education is the key for people to break the cycle of poverty they find themselves in; and
  2. Properly used, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) can be harnessed to revolutionize the way world class education is delivered to disadvantaged communities.
